Enlightening and amazing stories of uncommon perseverance and strength
‘This book is an enlightening look at the lives of people with disabilities such as blindness, PTSD, autism, and other conditions that tend to be poorly understood by those of us who are able-bodied and who have not suffered abuse from the hands of family, friends, teachers, and medical professionals.. Each story is one of strength, perseverance, and honesty as each person has discovered the capacity for self-acceptance and the ability to forge a life of dignity and purpose. These are called “coming-of-age” stories but include stories of people born with disabilities as well as those who became disabled later in life. Sexuality, accessibility, bullying, and other challenges are described with unflinching honesty. I highly recommend this book!’
